I just decided to take a few shots whilst out birding with the 100-400 on the 5D3. This is one of the places I find the darters and egrets and the bridge getting to it. Not as sweet as I thought it would be at f11. I took some shots when I first got it at 5.6 and 8 and they were much better and needed no PP whereas these did. I'm a bit anal about filters and sold them all since I bought decent glass. I don't believe in degrading with another piece of glass, extender being the exception. I never use a camera without a lens hood on for protection though. Must admit, I miss the polariser though for images like this. Like a beautiful tree than can fall and crush your house-case in point, I've got a Sony lens which I love (FE 70-200G) but it cannot take a filter, even high dollar B+W, without turning out crap images. Took me a while to figure out what was going on, images were not good; finally took off the filter and walla! flickr
