I'm shooting a cultural show in a college aditorium today with my Canon 6D and 200mm f2.8 primarily. Just wondering if I should use my flash at all? I don't think so, but looking for input.

Aug 22, 2015 08:09 | #2 Personally, I try not to, but that's just a personal preference. If you feel it will help your images, and flash is allowed, then I say try it? If it is not very effective, then I think with your gear, bumping the ISO way up and shooting wide open would give you a decent shutter speed.

PhotosGuy Cream of the Crop, R.I.P. ![]() More info | Aug 22, 2015 08:22 | #3 I would do everything I could to avoid flash. I'm shooting a cultural show in a college aditorium today... For yourself? Or for the college? If for the college, I'd try a tripod from the back if I couldn't get a seat at the front. FrankC - 20D, RAW, Manual everything...

I am going to be front center (just high enough to be a little above level with the performers). I am official photographer cuz I'm free. Sanjeev @csraphotography @thephotourist

gonzogolf dumb remark memorialized More info | Aug 22, 2015 14:58 | #7 Im still not clear, is it a stage performance? If so using a flash will detract from the performance and you will lose the drama that any stage lighting will provide.

Yes it was stage performance, and no flash seems to be the better choice. I shot a few with flash to hedge and am going through photos now. Sanjeev @csraphotography @thephotourist

CameraMan Cream of the Crop ![]() More info | Aug 24, 2015 20:10 | #11 I thought I posted this in here. But I agree. No flash required. I shot this from a balcony in a dark auditorium towards the lighted stage. A tad bit OOF but the lighting was pretty descent. No flash used.
