Canon 7D ii for HS Football at Night

Anybody have any experience using the 7Dii for shooting HS football under the lights? While I know lighting conditions will vary greatly...I was wondering how the 7Dii did in handling noise levels in low light.

When I shoot basketball...often in poorly lit gyms, I use my 5Diii because it handles noise better.

I used the 7D for night football at ISO 6400. The 7D2 will be close to a full stop better, which means it will be marginally worse than the 5D3 by 1/3 to 1/2 stop in the worst case.

Here is a 7D image at 6400, the 7D2 would eat this up, especially with a better JPG engine.

Here is one from last Friday night. My first time at our football field with the 7DMII. Several lights were not burning (four on one pole), rather disgusting for the first game.

Can I ask if you shoot JPEG or RAW? I usually shoot RAW and then take a lot of time cleaning up noise in my pictures when shooting in bad lighting conditions. Your pic looks really good for a noise perspective...and wondered if that was from camera or a result of post-production work.

Used my deuce Friday night to shoot a scrimmage, for it being early and no need for flash I was happy with the results. This camera is going to take some time to learn the intricacies though

Following up with my own results...I wanted to share a couple of my photos from last Friday night's local HS game under the lights. I shot this with my Canon 7Dii. Quite frankly, I was pleasantly surprised with the results considering that most were shot between 3200-16000 ISO. Yes...you can certainly see noise in the shots, but at least the players' skin doesn't look too pasty...which IMO is worse than the noise. I included the settings for each pic. BTW...the included pics were shot JPG (high) with high ISO noise reduction set to Standard (not sure if this is doing anything because I shot both RAW & JPG). I think the 7Dii held up very well.

1/1250, 2.8, ISO 3200 (early in the evening, not totally dark yet) - No noise reduction applied; only a slight reduction in highlights to offset white jersey
