Following up with my own results...I wanted to share a couple of my photos from last Friday night's local HS game under the lights. I shot this with my Canon 7Dii. Quite frankly, I was pleasantly surprised with the results considering that most were shot between 3200-16000 ISO. Yes...you can certainly see noise in the shots, but at least the players' skin doesn't look too pasty...which IMO is worse than the noise. I included the settings for each pic. BTW...the included pics were shot JPG (high) with high ISO noise reduction set to Standard (not sure if this is doing anything because I shot both RAW & JPG). I think the 7Dii held up very well.
1/1250, 2.8, ISO 3200 (early in the evening, not totally dark yet) - No noise reduction applied; only a slight reduction in highlights to offset white jersey
