I will be shooting USA v Australia rugby game in Chicago @ Soldier Field next Saturday (9/5). Sunset is 6:18 PM and game starts at 6:30 PM. I am getting a 400mm f2.8 Mk II on loan from CPS and bringing my 70-200 2.8L IS along with 2 1D IV's, monopod and OpTech sling.

Has anyone shot under lights at Soldier Field? How is lighting? Good? Poor? Consistent? Will my 1D IV's have the ISO performance necessary for these pics?

Any other gear I should/need to bring?

This is from 2003, I'm guessing it's better now. Your 1d IVs will be fine.

Excellent! Thanks. It's going to be televised so I assumed the lighting would be sufficient. One less thing off my mind.

Sunset is actually 7:17pm on September 5th (according to TPE). I wouldn't expect to have any direct light on the field in any event, but your ambient will be changing if the game starts at 6:30pm.

Well I'll be damned...can't remember the website I used but 7:17 PM seems correct.

Thanks btweller.

Game is two 40 minute halves with halftime so I'll still be under lights by the end.
