Wow crazy Maureen, much fun. I'm glad to see this thread up and running again. This week has seen some fun. Had an interesting time with this guy. He gave me plenty of opportunity.

This was taken by Kate Cummings who owns Blue Ocean Whale Watch. We love going out with her....... While I have seen this a number of times, it continues to evade my camera.
TEN lunge feeding humpbacks!!! I have never seen more than 7 myself but oh what a site!

Pondrader I would love to macro a black fly.....but we don't have them this far south. Can they be caught without crushing them? I'd pay for the shipping :)

That would be awesome!!! And you are a bear magnet and with you I might actually see one. We're up to 318 miles of the 800 in the park hiked and everyone sees them but me Ha! Sad but true.

Ed I've seen them in the driveway at the cabin near Roan mountain but in a driveway and me without camera in hand doesn't count ;)

If you want to see bears in the Great Smoky Mountains Park, just go to Cades Cove. Park the car and walk around the woods; not necessarily on trails, just thru the back country. I guarantee you will have opportunities to photograph bears after a few days spent in the Cove area in this manner. They are all over the place. But if you stick to trails and roads you may very well go weeks without seeing any.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

^that's actually good advice; they know where the people are....one might want to be careful in the Smokies going off trail (well anywhere for that matter), this guy found off trail on the Gregory Bald loop-
