I use a 300 2.8 L is mark I that I bought used about a year ago I think. I have used it with a 6d and a 70d and a 2x extender frequently and loved it. I have used it for the past two weeks with a 7d2 and the focus is great. I have an big egret picture in a thread of mine about my new toy.

$3700 for the v2 is an amazing deal. I'm not sure the v1 was even made in 2011 anymore. I'd have jumped all over that, too! Let me know!

I hope it pans out for you. My worry? I don't think the newer supersedes have date codes engraved on the mount. I could be wrong; I'be heard of UY 300/2.8 v1's but not UZ's. I guess they could be date marked externally (i.e. using serial number to check year of manufacture).
