My sister expressed an interest in getting into digital photography, so I've passed along my 10D and an EF 24-85 to get her started. Which left a hole in my equipment that I filled with an EF-S 18-135 and a 7D Mark ii body. Took the new body with my 100-400 to one of the often productive habitats along the Mohawk-Hudson bikepath to get some test shots. I think I'm going to like it quite well.

Thanks, Ed -- I thought his "Mohawk haircut" looked pretty cool! It is a good spot for green herons, I captured a sequence of one spearing, then swallowing, a small bluegill last year.

Hi Cole - I saw your antelope picture, nice! I saw enough rave reviews and quality shots coming out of the 7D Mark ii's that I knew I'd bite the bullet eventually, and managed to get a refurb from Canon when they announced a Labor Day sale. I figure my 100-400 will live on it, and I'll put the shorter zoom on my 7D for scenic and general type shots. I spend a lot of time on dusty roads and want to avoid changing lenses as much as I can, also much quicker to just grab the right camera - the landscapes will wait, but the critters won't. Look forward to more posts with your new combination. John
