Decided to give the 1D MKIV and 300 2.8 IS a try out this morning. Arrived before sunrise and waited for them to come out. Followed this big guy around most of the morning before he disappeared.

Beautiful shots! I need to make a trip down to GSMNP! Haven't been there in 20 years.

It's great that he's not showing any tags or collars in these shots.

Thanks everyone. The two big bucks was the only two big ones I saw. I did catch to smaller bucks fighting with each other but they soon darted off into the woods.

I just realized that the EXIF isn't showing up. Am I missing something or does it not show up automatically?

Do you ever see any good Whitetail Deer (big bucks) at Cataloochee, or just the elk? Someone told me that many years ago it was a great place to photograph big deer, but that when the elk were introduced they pretty much drove the deer out. Any truth to that?

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

I had to add it in myself. I thought it picked it up automatically.

You don't see the big deer anymore like you use to. I believe it has stemmed from them brining the elk in. Now its elk, black bear, and turkeys. Rarely see a deer.
