That a great shot, but an impossible one to take with a flash on the hotshoe...

Am I misunderstanding the point of this thread?

It only states that it has to be a hot shoe flash. Not how it was triggered or fitted.

This thread was created when the single flash thread was split into 2 parts, one for monolights or portable studio strobes, and one for speedlites which was unfortunately named hotshoe flashes. The bulk of single flash shots presented here are off camera. There is a less used thread for on camera flash examples.

Thanks. I just moved to another state and opportunities to shoot have been limited. I'm hoping to have more stuff to post soon.

ah okay gotcha! I was so confused. I thought the proper name of hotshoe flashes were speedlites.

But when the speedlite is mounted off-camera the shoe isn't hot.

And yo be just complete the trigger is fitted to a coldshoe or screwed on the mountingpoint.

And to be utterly complete, there are now hotshoe flashes with build in trigger and that are mounted directly to a coldshoe or screwed to a mountingpoint.

I removed the hotshoe on my Godox AD360 so I can't use pictures lit by it in this thread. By replacing the screw-in socket with the hotflash again. By doing so it qualifies again for this thread. ;-)a
