Agreed, but that is not the same as Canon refusing to service water-damaged gear.

Or ask me. They repaired my 100-400mm that was water-damaged.

I guess you are lucky. I had my camera and lens returned to me due to water damage by Irvine Canon. Sold them to another member who fixed them to normal working condition. I was told that they don't service water damaged gear because of the 90 days warranty associated after the service. If anything goes out, they're on the hook for it.
