Glass eye bokeh (wish I had used a deeper DOF to catch more in focus)

Eddie, I like your series of door knockers. That FE 28/2 seems to be working out well for you.

I agree Eddie, i'm enjoying your door knocker series too. From your "Army Spectacle Depot" image, it's obvious they do more than furnish spectacles. :-)

Yeah it was an odd sight. There were some that had what looked like blood smeared on them but I assume it wasnt.

I don't mind at all Eddie. In fact, I'm fascinated by artifacts like these from a culture a little different than my own. The "horse and hound" photo, are those pieces for some type of game?

I'm looking forward to seeing whatever bric a brac you find that appeals to you.

Thanks Gene, with regards to the horse and hound photo I took that photo when I visited house of marbles in Devon (http://www.houseofmarbles.com …evon/house-of-marbles/15/ (external link)). They had a museum inside and it had loads of old games and oddities (thats where the glass eyes were). Im not 100% sure what the game was in this instance but horse and hound is the oldest equestrian magazine in the UK and this is the first edition (not sure if original but it was displayed as if it was and stored behind glass) - (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horse_%26_Hound (external link))

Would have been massively tempted to sell my A7s mk I for the MK II....but seeming as this has come out and although at £1000 GBP, it is a pretty good deal for 4:2:2 4k video out with a 1080p 7" monitor!

http://cvp.com …jbFkIFsA-74-FUaAkpd8P8HAQ (external link)

EDIT:
For those a bit confused and thinking "why!? it costs the same to sell your old and get the new rather than buying an extra peice of equipment for the old".

1. A7s is a clean out. Apple Pro Res is a nice codec to record to. Better than the internal Sony Codec.
2. The 7" monitor can load 3D LUTs....shooting s-log was always a pain because it is hard to see "what I will really get at the end". Loading a LUT gives a transformation (preview only so does not effect the "RAW" footage" so you can see what you are shooting will be like AFTER basic editing.
3. It is a 7" monitor with peaking. In camera S-LOG kills pixel peaking. The contrast is so low it does not work. The external monitor with peaking means you get the peaking after the LUT has been applied, so the peaking actually works.
4.It is a 7" monitor. At 1080p. Yep, you can actually see what you are shooting rather than doing the "is it in focus yet" thing on the back of a tiny LCD.

Very nice! I have the same but I cancelled the Batis the day it was to ship. I thought I'd wait until I see enough reviews. I just picked up the 135 1.8 used but I'm still on the fence deciding if it will stay. It seems to miss focus occasionally and it's larger and heavier than I expected. What are your thoughts on the 135?

Here's my first practice shot with it wide open. Definitely sharp enough wide open.

QUOTED IMAGE

Nice shot!

The 135 f1.8 is a phenomenal portrait lens. Different FOV from the 85 so not really comparable. If I want to completely melt the background into a blur of color, the 135 does a better job than any portrait lens I've used thus far, and its very sharp and contrasty. Similar rendering to the sony Zeiss FE lenses. The LA-EA4, since it has a mirror, is subject to the same misalignment between the mirror, AF sensor, and image sensor as DSLR's, so accuracy can be a problem. You have the ability to MFA the lens in the camera, but honestly I just use MF with it.

The 135 is a heavy piece of glass...its basically a commitment to bring that thing out, but it does its job well. The 85 batis, on the other hand, has the best handling of the FE lenses I've used and is something I wouldn't mind bringing out casually. Both are great, but I can see myself using the batis more based purely on the size of the lens. Plus again, the FOV is very different.

Batis 85.

F1.8 is shallow enough. Ears are out of focus already:

Told u tim.... do et..... Haha

Have I mentioned that you are an evil influence? :p

I'm tempted to get the 28/2, but I have a great deal to learn first. For now I need to focus on mastering the A7RII with FE 55 1.8, the Metabones IV, and the EF lenses I have. Then I'll be able to determine what direction I ultimately go.
