Maverick, welcome to the group! Congrats on your new camera.

Another ISO6400 shot. Not much of a sunset but I did get a bit of magenta in the sky during the blue hour. Security guard was scoping me out.

Welcome to the club! I'm still sporting the original a7 and really like it. I love using it with alt glass, but there are a lot of great native options out there as well now.

I already prefer it so much over my 7D Mark II, way better ISO, built in Wifi, angled screen (which will be a lifesaver with my fisheye).

I was also surprised with the focus speed, it's peppy!

The only gripe so far is the auto switching of the LCD screen and EVF. My glasses are causing an issue. It doesn't know what to pick, when I take my glasses off it works perfectly.

Really strange because I don't have that issue on my sister's A6000, that switches flawlessly even when I wear glasses.

Near Pierson Florida, junction of US 17 and Fl Rt. 40, just west of railroad tracks. A place for Kitschy stuff.

vinmunoz i would like to try for portraits with edits similar to yours,i really like your portraits.

that's very flattering. thank you. first of all you need to decide whether you wanna shoot with natural light or strobe. I'm used to use flash on my portrait and I was having a hard time deciding which way to go. Then I ask few friends here in POTN and many favored my natural light shot. For me it's easier to process. It's really a preference thing. I like soft shadows so unless I have a giant modifier to bring on location, I will stay with natural light.

It's also fun to see myself bringing only a camera and a lens compared to others dragging huge strobes and modifiers(sorry strobists). It's just me.

Indoor I'm bouncing light. Imagine turning your small flash head into a wall size modifier? I do that to create a directional light. I cover my flash head with black foamy to avoid light coming from the camera towards the subject.

here's an example, i was using a flash on camera on this one with the black foamy. see how soft it is?

Gone 4 days-I'll never get caught up. Spent a night on Wayah Bald trying for star trails and Milky Way. Then off to Cades Cove hoping for bear. Here is where we spent our first night in the hammocks-

Pm me if your thinking selling the a7 ii. I'm no where near needing a a7r2 but the a7 ii is up my alley. I know how well ibis works with older glass on my em 5. I jumped the gun on the a7 I have now. I should have waited. I heard the a7 ii was on is way to be released and I bought a used a7 any ways.

I already have someone interested, and I live in Belgium so I'm not sure where you are from but I suppose not from around here :) Still very unsure though, it's a lot of money to add (I also need FE glass, sold the FE35). So I might sell the A7II and just wait a little to see if Sony would release an A7III and save up a little. But still... :)

A7Riii is a certainty. My bet is no more than a year, but the improvements won't be as grand as the move from the A7R to the A7Rii.

i hope not. Sony should concentrate on the missing FE lenses now.

It's just that I really doubt if the A7RII is really a big step-up from the A7II. Like I posted before, I have a love/hate relationship with the A7II. I love the files it outputs, but find it slow to operate compared to the A6000. The face detection frankly sucks on the A7II compared to the A6000. This is not a DOF issue, I tried F5.6 on the A7II and it often missed the eyes compared to F1.8 on the A6000. Of course, noise is worse on the A6000 but if I really need fantastic low light performance, I have the D750 (which I call "the dinosaur" due to weight and size). So I'm essentially looking for D750 ISO performance and A6000 AF performance in the A7-body. The A7II is not that (just yet). The A7R2 might be, but I see mixed reviews. Too bad there's no way to rent one over here.

Im finding im shooting more too. The whole appeal of mirrorless to me is smaller size (or the option of it) so that I take my camera more places. I proved it to myself last week when I took 1000 photos while on a weeks holiday. Compare that to the sub 7000 photos I took in a years ownership of my 5D3
