Over the last few weeks, Photoshop has been extremely slow to open new images. This is happening regardless of the file size or type. I haven't made any changes to my computer. Any ideas/suggestions?

could be lots of things ranging from running out of drive space, to imminent hard drive failure....

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", 1D MK II converted for IR, and now an M5

PC version. I've got 250+GB free on one drive (SSD) and 300+ on the second drive (HDD). Both drives are approx 3yrs old. I don't notice any other odd behavior with other applications, so I'm hesitant to believe it is my hard drives failing.

Still could be a problem with your disk (which you can check), or maybe something corrupted in your Photoshop preferences (which can be reset).

What OS and what version of PS?

Check your resource monitor / task manager while opening images, see if CPU or disk is being used heavily. Reinstall CS6.
