Thats where im at. I find MF easy enough on static/slow subjects but just cant get enough keepers when shooting my son. I really like the size and look of the CV40 but I know it wouldn't be the best purchase for me

Same here. Well, I don't have kids. Just a dog. And hummingbirds. But the point remains the same. You could probably do well with the FE 35/2.8 replacing the CV40 in about the same FL range.

Yeah…I had gotten pretty good at MF as it was the only choice for a while when I had when I had the a7r and a bunch of EF lenses. The issue with me is more a matter of speed. By the time I get the shot in focus, the moment is missed.

I’ve been so spoiled by eye focus that I reach for my AF lenses every time. Keeper rate is basically 100% as long as there’s an eye in the frame, and its fast enough that I don’t miss anything.

MF is a lot of fun though. Feel more engaged with the shot and the camera when shooting MF.

Exactly. I enjoy MF when it's a static subject. Landscapes, etc.
So I do plan on keeping my collection of FD glass (FD 24/2.8, FD 50/1.8, FD 135/2, FD 300/4). But I reserve those for when I am unencumbered with people and distractions. Out on my own, shooting landscapes with a tripod, taking my time, etc.

I need a separate kit altogether for stuff around the house, my dog, niece, wife, family, birds, etc...

Sony A7RII and a bunch of lenses.

AF isn't a huge concern for me right now, which is why I went for it. Like you said, and from what I've read, it's a hell of a lens especially considering the age. Don't have kids and don't plan to any time soon. Need to finish law school first. heh.

I actually had the EF 85II at the same time as the FD85 and did some side side comparison. The two lenses are basically indistinguishable.

Weird. If I post a photo from flickr with the FE 28 the exif reader automatically fills in the lens details. If I post an image with the FE 55 I need to select the lens myself

The light was pretty amazing yesterday morning. This was from my back yard. I used my 70-200L II for this. Actually, the AF did pretty well.

QUOTED IMAGE

Viltrox. Anyone own one? One has come up locally used for about £35 - an original version I think as I've seen images and web pages for a version II

I wouldn't mind one simply to be able to try/use my 135L on the A7 ;)

I own a brand new one. I have it for sale. I use the metabones. Looks like a good adapter though.

Lol. Thanks!

It's about an acre filled with Texas oaks. It's one of the main reasons why we selected this lot.

A local solo singer/friend of mine asked me to record his one hour set in a local bar. it's free so I will just shoot it with 1080p/60. i think the 28F2 fits the job really well. I don't know if i have to bring a tripod or a monopod. Tripod can be used as monopod though. wish me luck.

I think your biggest hurdle will be recording the audio decently. A separate, audio recorder would certainly help or sync in the music later under better conditions.

Good luck!
