I was just at the Canon USA EF lens lineup site and I noticed that the 70-200 f/4L IS USM lens is no longer listed. The non-IS version is still there. You can still get to its product page using the "Don't see your product?" link at the bottom of the main page, but there's no MSRP listed for it.

That would be crazy. I don't see that happening.

That would be too bad if it were. I just bought one and think it's great alternative to the 2.8L IS if you don't need the speed - excellent IQ and it's smaller, lighter, and cheaper.

it would be quite cool if it got an upgrade....
I love mine and would consider a newer version
assuming the basic same measurements.

though IIRC there was an episode of something like this a couple months back
and it was just a computer error...

There are many non US Canon websites. You did check those right?

Though I **STILL** wouldn't mind a new version of IS and that new blue glass thing-a-ma-bob
but ... doubtful for now....

I think it's the 50L that often seems to disappear from the Canon USA site for a few days at a time. It seems to coincide with updates for other new lenses. I guess the 70-200 f/4 IS L has suffered a similar temporary glitch.

No but I appreciate your passive aggressiveness. :)

That's irrelevant in my view. If Canon USA is no longer importing it into the US, stock will dry up. Other than gray market. It could mean it's been discontinued globally, that a mark II is imminent, or it could just mean Canon USA has chosen to discontinue it in the US for whatever reason.

There have been numerous Canon products over the years that haven't been sold in the US. Things like QD versions of film bodies, or the EOS M2. To be fair, I'm not aware of any lenses in that category though.

That's the non-IS version. Curious why one would be there and the other one gone. May just be a server glitch.

I think Canon plays hide-the-lens every now and again just to fool with our emotions ... or as a bald-faced marketing ploy.
