selfish baby :P jk

which park do you prefer? I've never gone to florida... one day.. and maybe Disney cruise.

I love southern california so I'm a bit biased, but disneyworld is definitely a bigger, more immersive experience...particularly if you stay in one of their resorts. Just don't go in the summer. Florida and Texas have a similar climate, and I would avoid both states during the summer if at all possible.

Really stoked about the star wars and avatatar exhibits they're adding though!

I am surprisingly very pleased with the AF on the 35L, 50L and 85L lenses and the metabones III adaptor. Can anyone tell me if there is a signficant improvement in AF with the metabones IV adapter? I have not updated the firmware on the III. The 135L does not AF with the metabones III.

I don't have the III but I have the IV and I now have the newest firmware. All I can say is that it is good on all 3.

I am also pretty convinced that from an ability to get tack sharp images, removing IBIS which is HUGE, if you want to shoot at 1.2, 1.4, 1.6 that you get better sharper pictures with these lenses on the A7R2 than you can get on a canon (on average) because the mirror is removed. I'm basically shocked at the SS that you can use and get tack sharp images on with the 85L & 135L - ie 1/20th is sharp. If I pop it manual focus and really dial it in, I can hit repeated tack sharp at 1/13th SS - in my books that is basically ridiculous for a 42 megapixel camera.

My only issue is that with a heavy lens such as the 85L, I think the connection to the metal on metal MB on Lens metal connection could be tighter - I would not be using it outside if it was raining for sure - but I wouldn't do it on a Canon 5D either as the 85L is not weather sealed.

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

Here are a few I took of the wife at a friend's house picking fruits. It was the first time I shot the a7RII during a sunny day outdoors (we rarely ever go out, so this type of outdoors situation is not common for us).

Usually I shoot with the 55mm f/1.8 because indoors/low-light and cramped space isn't what the 24-70mm f/4 is good at (due to the f/4), but on a sunny day outdoors like this, I was really happy to be able to shoot the 24-70mm f/4 and get nice subject/background separation and not have to think about high ISO noise.

The 55m f/1.8 still will give more shallow DOF but the difference is not as obvious due to inherent longer distance between subject and background when compared to typical indoor situations in our home.

Has anyone tried the 70-200 II on the new firmware? Better?

Worked well with Metabones 0.43. Have not tried 0.44 yet.

Hi all i did a shoot today with flashes on my sony a7r2 for the first time and struggled to see through the evf as i killed of the ambiant light and therefore set the exposure so it is pitch black so that my strobe lights lite u the scene. However, the EVF was also blank and i could not find an option(if any) to view the scene not based on my manual setting, but based on the scenes ambient light so i can manually focus/see the scene!

Any settings to change this?

Because of this, i had to revert to my trusted canon 5d3 for half the shoot. I wanted to use my a7r2 to see its limitations and to test it in an actual photo shoot and see if it can do the job.

Interesting. I just had an opposite but similar problem. I was attempting to shoot into the sun to create a flare so I was using the EVF to expose for the sun somewhat but there was no way doing so and then focusing with a very narrow DoF on the foregroup image I wanted in focus as it was too dark. I had to massively up exposure to get focus and then reduce exposure to get the shot I wanted - my brain really struggled while doing it as I hadn't run into that before. We basically had the same issue which is a really big deal I would think for event people in dark spaces. I have been thinking about adding flashes for the Sony system but I'm too comfortable with my Canon setup - and you have just added ammo to my own experience - better for now to leave it as a non flash camera or just use flash for fill or bounce fill.

Gear Menu 3. "Live View Display". Set this to "setting effect off"

So now that the camera has been out for a while, I'm curious about how everyone feels about the camera.

I've had a chance to use it for about a month and while I still like it, the honeymoon is over a bit.

I do love the IBIS. I love using the camera with my Canon 24-70, but I wish the 70-200 worked as well.

I hate the ergonomics. I hate moving the focus points. These are two areas, that I just love Canon for. The 5D bodies just feel great in the hand and everything I need is at my fingertips.

I love the EVF on the Sony. I am starting to think that is the future. OVFs have their benefits, but the benefits of the EVF are just starting to become overwhelming.

I guess my overall opinion of this camera is: satisfied but with reservations. :-|

I like the lighter weight and love IBIS for my EF 16-35 f/2.8L II and EF 24-70 f/2.8L II. The low light capability is great. As I gain more experience with the body, I'm finding it easier to operate, but the ergonomics for my big hands continue to be a challenge.

I wish it had a joystick. (I dislike turn and click control wheels.) The balance of my issues with the A7RII are minor niggles, some of which may very well disappear as I grow more comfortable with it. Time will tell.

Overall I think its a keeper, but then so are my Canon bodies. :-D
