So I have a new 16-35 f/4L IS
The registration card says
"THESE ARE NOT REGISTRATION CARDS
Retain for your Records"

Then it tells me inside;

Register Now!

Visit www.registercanon.com (external link)

When I go to that link, instead of a registration page, I get a log in to Canon USA.
When I log in, I am at the Canon USA store, there is no way to register a new product.

When I click on the link for products I have purchased from Canon USA Store, they have a link to register those. Clicking the link to register the SL1 I got a few months back brings me to a blank web page. No way to enter serial or register anything.

All the while there is a little red box at the lower right that says "LIVE CHAT"
When i click that I get a "Live Chat" looking pop up window. Fill it out, guess what?

"Thank you for your inquiry, you will receive an email in 24 hours."

This is live chat?

Has anyone ever registered a Canon product online?

It is neither broken overall, nor just you. Something is off with their links for the SL1. Other models work (via link under Support), but SL1 has no link. (This is from the Canon USA site www.usa.canon.com (external link) - not the Canon Direct store.)

If you really do have an SL1 and want to register it, try this:
https://www.usa.canon.com …slr_cameras/eos_rebel_sl1 (external link)

Thanks,

I also found the actual link to register everything;

http://www.usa.canon.com …eKeyCode=noLeftNavigation (external link)

Funny that registercanon does not go there? lol

Canon web site in Australia is exactly the same....a mate of mine once described it as .... " as useless as an ashtray on a motorcycle"!! :) ......I have problems with it too....I cant register some things and also cant edit registrations that I made a while back when not all info was added at time of initial rego. Just a mess....Even worse is the Canon online store......It has a local 13 number to ring if you want to talk to a online cust service person re store items that diverts to a Philippines Call centre and the people have no idea whats in stock whats out of stock...no idea about products.....They are just glorified phone answering service. Just useless.
