More dynamic range -> see HDR. In that shot the sun is still up behind the trees and if he had gone with one exposure the highlights would blow out and have no detail in it. Can't fix that in post. If he had exposed for the sky the whole image would of been dark. Sure you could pump the shadows and exposure but that would just bring out the noise. I usually go for 2 exposures, one for sky and one for foreground

That make sense. Thanks

I didn't interpret it as HDR, more that he did a vertical panorama.

Have a question buddy. WHats the advantage of doing a 7 shots vertical as opposed to just doing one regular exposure? Not that im saying its wrong or anything, just curious as to whats different about them.

ESMcBlurM3 wrote in post #17717378 (external link)
Was also wondering this.

This is what I was capturing at 24mm:

It was not enough. You just had to be there :p

If you overlap well, and go beyond what you wanna capture, you can always get a nice 16:9 crop of an awesome vista like the one I uploaded. I always crop to 3840x2160 to have a (relatively) small file size which will print well. The larger size is just in case the local museum want a mural printed :)

Yup, CS6 does a good job. I have heard the new LightRoom does a better job, but have not tried it yet.

Here's another example of why I pano :)

All shots 5D3@24mm, and resized for upload

Image #1 5760x3840
Image #2 14 shot handheld vertical pano (after cropping) 9652x5993

But look at that FOV :)
