Not to start an argument, but I read people saying the 56mm lens is "slow" and flawed. I have one and I don't really understand people disliking the lens. What makes it slow? It focuses about as fast as any of my Canon lenses ever did, I'm so confused.

Beautiful photos Jep.

I have not experienced the complaints others have had with the lens myself either. Not to disparage anyone's skills because I'm certainly no expert but, especially wide open, such a fast 85mm equivalent lens takes a little practice. The image below is a 100% crop of a shot taken at 2.8 (so nowhere near wide open) and you can see that I caught focus reasonably close to the eye, but the cockatoos hand (which is about an inch and a half away from the eye) is already becoming well out of focus. That's not much room to work with, and can probably discourage some if they don't take time to get used to the lens. Please ignore the noise, ISO was bumped due to low light, and I didn't do anything to really clean it up. I took about 12 shots of several birds in the low light here, and got focus right where I wanted it in 9 or 10 of them. I'm very happy with the lens. Also, I love Jeps cat image.

Thanks folks, the 56mm def has a learning curve for me, tis slower (for me anyway) than any of my other glass. I bought the XT1 specific for this lens cause the bokeh is awesome. For my Canon I have an 85mm 1.4 and it's no slouch by any stretch, but wanted a 1.2 for portraiture. The rational to the wife is that for a little more than cost for a Canon 85mm 1.2, I can have a great mirror-less walk around and equivalent glass. I love this camera for the control, it's intuitive and encourages me to shoot more manual.

Ok, so as I'm finally going through all my images from the last couple of weeks, I'm liking the 16-55 more and more.

The wife and I drive a truck cross country so occasionally I throw up a few truck pics. Bracketed, kit lens.

I like these but seems too much skin smoothing. That is what I don't like about Fuji jpegs at higher ISOs. Now I have gone back to shooting RAW with my XT1.

Really like this one. Black and white conversion is spot on.
