Your shots though really accentuates just how comparatively close Jeff actually get to them.

Had to fight through some thin cloud cover, haze, and light polution. I'll plan better for 2033 or whenever this happens again.

Nice work. How long did you wait for that sliver of white on the bottom to go away. It was at about 5 o'clock up here in the north. It seemed to never really go away except for about 10 minutes.

I have never taken a photo of the moon that i have been satisfied with. I don't know if its my lens, my tripod, just always having shitty atmospheric conditions in DFW, or what. Always pisses me off.

This is the best one i got tonight. Canon 7dmkII with the Canon EF 100-300mm f/4.5-5.6 USM mounted. taken at 300mm f/8 ISO 1600 with a pretty heavy crop.

I wasn't paying much attention to that sliver. I had some crappy-arse cloud cover that kept flying by so I grabbed what I could.

Haha, Robert .. you're biggest challenge is deciding which camera system and which lens to use to do it though .. LOL

Exactly, and these are cropped to some extent too. Closest I got was maybe 50 yards, as soon as he had a sense I was there he was off.

Kevin- I've yet to put a TC onto the 100-400ii (that I can remember, I do visit a vodka on occasion).....what should I expect putting
a 1.4iii on?

Less Vodka

I think today is the first day that I've had mine off in weeks. I'll be honest and admit that when I got this combo, I didn't know what to expect having back problems and a permanently torn left bicep from a long tussle with a tiger shark and less circulation in that arm, the main vein being used for a quad by-pass. Being right handed, it's the left that supports the weight and I've come to realise that the TC sorts of tips me over the edge. It's not the extra weight but the extra bit of length that seems to have me less able to keep a long steady hold without wobbling. I didn't think the short length of a TC would make much difference but in my case it does and I miss target (hand held) AF quite often with the TC. I guess it's just like the magnification of lens wobble when you put a longer lens on exagerated (for me anyway).

I also find AF a tad slower and add to that the loss of stops and only having centre focus and I think I'll be leaving it off more often. It'll have it's uses no doubt, but I think that I'd rather be able to hold that centre spot steady on target as opposed to having more reach. Those with stronger arms should discount anything that I say 'cause it's my problem and not the TC's
