So I made an assumption which came back to bite me.. I assumed if I bought a MeFoto travel tripod, I could also buy their monopod and swap the ball-head on the tripod to the monopod.. Nope.

The monopod only has the 1/4" 20 screw for direct mounting cameras to the monopod base, and doesn't fit any actual heads that I have.

Any options here for using a standard tripod head on this monopod, or did I just learn a $50 lesson..? Not the end of the world, but I've got a few days before my Iceland trip, so I'm hoping there's some solution to this, but if I have to I can just manage with mounting the camera directly to the monopod.. I just won't be happy about it! :)

hahaha I can't stop laughing at my title! And it fits the hockey team my screen name is taken from. They're so bad they even make fans uninterested.
