I don't do a ton of HDR work, but for my brother-in-law, I'll give it a shot. c/c welcome

Like #2 but not sure the light stand and goal post add anything to the shot. I think the ball and jersey tell it all. Like the connection subject has with camera. Chris

Your vignette doesn't look natural, how are you creating it?

I'm not a fan of vignette but that's a personal taste of mine. I do like the goal post and light though!

Very surprised to see my son's high school represented here. I've seen your brother-in-law play a few times. He's pretty good. Catches lots of crossing passes.

More on point though, very much like both shots. I don't usually like HDR as HDR images look too, I don't know, I guess "fake" is the best word. Still, I like these.

I picked up a few vignette actions that i'm applying in Photoshop CS6. I don't recall where i got them but once added, I adjust the opacity to taste.

Thanks! Who is your son? I might have some photos of him. I'm one of the few photogs trolling the field at home (and some road) games.

And I totally understand what you mean about HDR looking fake, or unnatural. I believe it's OK in moderation but certainly not something I'd want to do to all my photos.

He's a freshman this year and decided not to play football despite the coaches calls. His thing is karate though he'll probably go out for swimming again. He really enjoyed competing at the middle school level last year and was one of the team captains. Dow's tradition in swimming and his desire to compete where he's got a good chance of being on a winning team make him trying out a certainty. ;-)a
