This shot would have been perfect if it was you she had down on the mat :)

When I get home tonight, I will share some of her beating me up. She really likes that for some reason. She is one of my best students.

By request, here is a shot of my wife, beating me into submission. For the record, I am a brown belt and have been at it for close to 13 years, she is a blue belt and about 7 years (due to injuries had to take some breaks) But it is fantastic for a relationship.

Awesome +1.
Rock-Paper-Scissors is also effective as a mediation tool. Just sayin'.

Cool stuff. My wife and both my 21 year old sons are third dan black belts in taekwondo, working on their fourth. I wouldn't get on a mat with any of them!!!!!I'm no fool!!!

She outranks me in Tae Kwon Do. She is a temp black belt and I am only a lowly brown belt in TKD. I just think it is cool knowing of someone makes the mistake of trying something with my wife, she is gonna make them have a VERY bad day. She has also done Muay Thai for about 5 years now and is starting Kendo in a month. So she is gonna have about 5-6 ways to beat me up here in the very near future. But I don't mind one bit.

I've processed a couple using the wash-out and saturate technique and really like it.

UmphreyBogart - Sure thing! Here's what I did:

i) Linear tone curve, push darks on far end of the left side up.
ii) In this case, I added 2 other points to round the curve through trail and error.
iii) Dropped the Clarity and increased sharpening with about 40% mask, to help with skin appearance.
iv) Pushed the Vibrance and Saturation.
v) Didn't think I had enough color in the image, so tweaked the Lumanance by pushing the foliage and dropping some of the other colors such as the purple / blue jacket.
vi) Had too much red in her face, so lowered red and orange saturation (not shown) by approx -10 each.
vii) Brushed Saturation into her hair, about 40%.
viii) Thought the image needed a little contrast, so pushed from 25 to 47. (Sometimes pushing the Black channel works also, but not in this case.)
ix) Added some vignette and then bumped exposure +.16 (barely)

FYI - Second image from 2013, and followed a similar process, but added some split toning to color the shadows & highlights.

Hope this helps! -Glimmerman

I took these at a wedding reception in Charleston on an aircraft carrier with a Rebel XTi and a 18-55 kit lens. These photos are what really got me started in photography. We soon sold the XTi in favor of a T2i.
