Gary I agree wholeheartedly with Gary. I have tried to sell, repeatedly, some of my gear that I no longer use. I knew someone here would have a use for my stuff. I am glad my Elan 7, Sunpak flash, and 28-105 have found new homes. The spirit of this thread is giving. Giving means just that. WARNING: I often dispense advice in fields I know little about!

Permanent banI use lightstands just like that for 430EX IIs and 30" umbrellas. They work. I'd keep it to indoors only. WARNING: I often dispense advice in fields I know little about!

Shawn_BS wrote in post #17733708 Folks, I have two gifts to offer today. The first item is a basic light stand. It'll work for a speed lite, but I wouldn't trust it with much more weight than that. I used a promaster soft box with it and it worked great. The second item is a very basic tripod. Not rated for much weight, I used it for my 7D with smaller lenses. Would make a good starter tripod or emergency backup. PM for either or both of these items. Shawn_BS wrote in post #17733708 Folks, I have two gifts to offer today. Gary I think that is how this began, but quickly the "give before you take" rule had to be adopted because many people were simply taking advantage of the process.

I understand. What is disheartening to me is when the recipient does not even say thank you or even acknowledge that they received the item. But even so, I'm going to continue to pay stuff forward because you never know what impact a gift is going to have on someone's life.
