Cannon Beach

Here are a few shots from Cannon Beach this past weekend. I shot mostly film, but haven't taken the rolls to be developed yet.

Did you shoot these in raw?

Images all seem over-exposed and could stand some detailed post-processing.

A lot of potential if shot in raw, otherwise, the JPG's may be somewhat salvagable...(in my opinion).

I would say these are pretty natural. Fog, mist, and clouds are generally white, like shown in the pictures.

I really only shoot if it is foggy outside and timing between 30 minutes before sunrise till sunrise, and golden hour, which leads to the style of most of my photos. Typically try and avoid golden hour too. Sunny days are for editing, foggy days are for shooting. Some minor details might be lost, but overall, it works very well.

Shot in RAW. All depends on what you're looking for too. A lot of people like the under exposed, light and airy pictures while other people like, IMO, ridiculous looking HDR edits and unnatural colors.

I would have to agree. Especially shot #3. That is a little more than just fog. The water and sky are extremely bright. Bringing highlights down would help.

The blurred foreground of foliage in #4 is very distracting to me.

appreciate the feedback and I mostly agree, but it is working out pretty well for me and people/companies really like them.

One from Russian River this weekend that is doing very well for me. Might not meet any technical aspects, but people like it and that's all it really comes down to.

These are cool shots! I'm curious what the de-haze feature would do though. Might clear it up a little. Find that balance with the fog.

I really like these. I think the brightness gives it a "pastel" look and it's very pleasing to look at. It's nice to see something different and there's no need to bring down the exposure or dehaze them so they look like everyone else's photos.

I don't find the foreground foliage distracting. It directs my eyes to the focal point and makes me feel like I'm right there, trying to get a peek at something which is almost out of sight.
