From yesterday at Petit Le Mans...1/30, not sure why the EXIF is registering as 1/25, I double checked...its 1/30

A question for you guys instead of sharing a pic.

I just ordered my first DSLR (a Canon 70D) and I'm trying to assemble some of the basic gear that I'll need.

I'll be going to events like Road Racing at Road America, autocrosses, and some rally races.

For panning shots like these will a monopod help me that much?

I have seen people shooting with them at Road America before and I'm curious if they would be useful for shooting motorsports.
