Can anyone explain why most of the "candid" shots in this thread are "black and white"?

I prefer B&W for candids too. When I see B&W, it gives me a feeling of nostalgia. That feeling with a candid photo helps me to connect with the emotion in the photo. I wasn't around during film or B&W days, but that's just how I see it.

To me, color does detract from the emotion in the photo. It's been scientifically proven that certain colors evoke different emotions. Like Yellow evokes happiness, Blue is calming, and B&W evokes nostalgia.

Agreed, There is something about B&W that just sits right. Color is great but B&W is awesome.

Thanks!

NOT referring to the photo above.

Is this supposed to be post your BEST candid or just past ANY candid?

Sorry If i am offending anyone but I guess I was expecting to see more thought provoking images. Sure, sporting event action photos and snap shots of people eating are technically "candid" but come on, I know those aren't your best.

This thread has become just any candid. In fact, many aren't even candids. Either that or there are some here that don't know what candid means.
