Most likely speculation, or is it :D...

Saw this post over on NewCamera: http://thenewcamera.com …x-mark-ii-finally-coming/ (external link)

"Latest rumors surfaced over the web about Canon 1DX Mark II camera, according latest report the Canon 1DX Mark II preproduction model is being tested by the photographers worldwide.

Take a look at the rumored specification of the camera;

24MP full frame sensor made by Canon – best dynamic range compared to all FF sensor available in the industry
14 fps in RAW + JPEG mode
Advance Autofocus System (compared to the current 61-Point High Density Reticular AF)
New Technology in Viewfinder
Light-weight battery
Large LCD screen OLED Display
Dual DIGIC 7 image processor – Canon 1DX Mark II is expected to arrive in 2016, the camera will arrive with a new sensor and advance DIGIC 7 image processor
We will post more updates soon as we get any information."

wowzers if thats true...cant wait for the 5D4 update :-)

ISO Improvement and dark/shadow retention and canon has a winner again

What is the difference with the AF...."Advance Autofocus System (compared to the current 61-Point High Density Reticular AF)"?

Apparently all cross type, and I'm guessing it may refer to the dedicated AF processing chips the 1d sires tends to have?

EOS-1D X Mark II Announcement Next Week [CR2]

By Canon Rumors | January 27, 2016 | Canon Business General

We were told a little while ago that there were media invites sent out for the first week of February, and all assumptions were that it was for the EOS-1D X Mark II.
We now have a few more people confirming an announcement on Monday or Tuesday of next week, it’ll all depend where you are on the planet.
We do find it strange that Canon has opted not to tease the new camera, that always made things a little more interesting.
More to come…

So.. 15fps, 22MP, all AF points good for f/8, 4k video. Seems technically plausible.

I assume "15 level of tolerance" refers to 15 stops of DR; which would be hugely welcome from Canon, but they claimed that on the C300 Mark II, and tests I've seen don't get close.

Camera, some lenses, too little time, too little talent

Do you have a link to the original post?

I think 4Kp60 is probably too much to expect, but I do expect to see DCI 4K at 30fps and clean HDMI output. Considering that Nikon just got to 12fps with the D5, I am 50/50 either way on whether Canon will bump the fps up more.

I don't think it's an official Canon page.

Yeah, it looks like just a re-hash of what Canon Rumors posted over the last couple of weeks + a bit of fantasy. I'll believe it when I see a press release.

The exact "translation" I had when reading it, including the DR... Hmm. I don't believe a word of the story though ;)

Do you think that Canon the world wide respected Japanese company would be saying "Tesla Model X, Soooo Coool" ;) on the official Canon Facebook page?

Yeah, it is definitely not an official Canon page. In any case, CR has leaked the latest set of rumors:

  • 20.2MP CMOS sensor
  • Dynamic range improvement
  • Dual pixel CMOS AF
  • 61-point AF system, which range is expanded. 41-point cross-type. All of the distance measuring point can be selected
  • With lighting AF point red
  • F8 even 61 points all of the distance measuring point can be selected
  • AI AF accuracy and motion tracking has improved Servo AF III +
  • Dual DIGIC6 + processor
  • New mirror drive system that enables high-speed continuous shooting
  • Video 4K 60fps. Possible internal recording at CFast2.0T media
  • Continuous shooting up to 16 frames / sec (live view mode)
  • Dual pixel CMOS AF, enables smooth AF with 4K video
  • GPS built-in
  • USB3.0 terminal, HDMI terminal
  • Dust and water specification
  • Wi-Fi option (WFT-E8)
  • The size of 158mm x 167.6mm x 82.6mm
  • Weight 1340g

They all seem quite reasonable -- all AF points at f/8 is going to be interesting. The current mirror drive is already at 12fps, so if they are having a new mirror drive then I assume it will be higher than that? Seems to be a reasonable list of what should happen with Canon's new flagship.
