Yes, I understand there are villagers with pitchforks storming adobe headquarters over the new upload protocol.

I'd just use LR6 then. I used to do an Bridge/ACR/PS workflow and there is no way I'd go back to it. With LR I consume a fraction of the HDD space used previously, exporting to SmugMug is easier, printing is easier, metadata tagging is easier, geotagging is easier, you don't have to fret about color spaces and correctly tagging images ... and if you aren't using "big hammer" tools such as Layers you can get exactly the same result as with PS.

I do use PS for clearing up skin blemishes using frequency separation and for repairing rips, missing emulsion, scratches, dust spots, etc. when restoring scans of old negatives or prints.

So I suppose gone are the days where you can just buy the CD and download it all??

Oh, that's not my issue. I'm constantly having to shut down LR6 and restart it to do simple things. . . like keyword images. It will suddenly decided that I don't really need to save keywords/titles/descri​ptions, etc and just refuse to save them. Or sometimes the edits just won't show, or the import just won't work. You hit import and Lr just shrugs and turns back to its beer.

Ahhhh......the good old days.

By the way, you can still buy LR6, full copy or upgrade, but Adobe sure doesn't make it intuitive to find. I'm not a big fan of subscription software.

Gee that's terrible isn't it!

Sounds like something is corrupted with your install. I'm not having any problems applying metadata ... But maybe I have to test it a bit more under Win 10 (I had absolutely zero issues under Win 8.1).

Is there something in particular I should test?

If so many other people weren't having issues with Lr6 I would have tried a reinstall already. As is I'll just wait for the next update.

Give the most recent faux pas by Adobe (and their apology) I'd wait a month more. 6.2 released a week ago introduced a ton of bugs, and we'll have to see if 6.2.1 released this week really fixes things. I'm betting that within a couple of weeks there will be a 6.2.2.

It seems that lots of people don't want to go the CC route because it requires a subscription. For me that was never the problem. For me the very thing being touted as the big plus point (frequent smaller upgrades) was always going to be the problem.

Having worked in software development my experience is that frequent updates means more chances for disruption to the product by bugs. It seems that LR6 is the embodyment of my fear. In addition introducing new feature regularly means more regular interuptions to my workflow while I learn and absorb these new features.
