How do you get the shots without getting yourself or the lens in the reflection?

Or are these not SOOC? Did you combine shots?

No composites. All very close to SOOC images.

I can't seem to find your reflection or that of the lens though...that must have taken a while to position yourself for it not to show...

Not really. Generally I only have a couple of minutes to do them. The beach ring reflection one was about 3 minutes start to finish (included 3 different poses).

It's all about angles. None of them are shot straight on. The closest to straight on is the gold band with the wedding party table reflected in it. But that's shot from a low enough angle that he won't appear in the reflection. Practice it with a mirror. Take pictures at different angles, until you can see the reflection of what you want, without you being reflected.

Almost forgot to post these here!

No diamonds here! I have had the pleasure of seeing some pretty cool rings this year, but this ring has got to be the best one yet!

The B&G had these 2 matching rings custom made with the groom's guitar strings! The Groom is a lifelong musician and that is how they met. The groom even played the Beatles 'And I Love Her' with his guitar to his future bride as she walked down the isle. The Groom's brother also played a reggae version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow on his Mandolin while they walked back down the isle. The location was even at his cabin where they spend much of their time and the ceremony was in the exact spot where they sit and look over the lake!

Being the sentimental person that I am, I like them. Something with meaning has far more value than something with monetary value.

I actually got this gig because I was at a restaurant on the beach 2 years ago and snapped a few pics of the Groom playing. I did some heavy processing on the images and posted them. He loved them and asked that I shoot his wedding and process them in a similar way.

Here are a couple of rings shots. You can view the full gallery here. Leaver Wedding (external link)

*All photos were taken with the Sigma 18-35 f1.8, which is not in the gear list yet. I had to pick a lens to add the photos to my gallery*
