I've been wanting to replace this lens with the 24-70/f4. However, I'm not really sure if it's really worth.

On my way home yesterday, can't resist stopping to take a few snaps.

I made the switch and couldn't be happier- better handling of distortion at the wide end (but both are easy to fix in post), the newer IS, it is smaller, lighter, has the best macro ability of any lens outside of an actual macro lens, and it has a zoom lock switch so there is no zoom creep of any kind. The only down sides are the loss of the 71-105mm which doesn't bother me, and it is slightly more expensive.

Do you find the 24-70 to be much sharper? I have also been thinking of this change.

If the sharpness of this lens was a 7 and the 24-70 2.8 II was a 9, the 24-70 IS would be a 7.8, it is sharper but not near as sharp as the 24-70 II- although at web resolution it would be hard to tell unless you are close to a 100% crop in my experience.

I do a lot of hiking and want a small, light, and versatile lens without compromising much and I felt like the move was everything I hoped it would be. I did like the 24-105 as it is such a value for what you get and the quality is great.

Used the 24-105 for some through-the-fence shots at a wildlife sanctuary

I am new to the .net. I would like to purchase (almost new) Cannon 16-35 f2.8L and 70-200 f2.8ii L. Does anyone have these lenses for sale?

Thanks!

#3 is actually in Jacksonville at the Cummer Art Museum. They have some gardens along the side of the river, they are pretty nice! #7 is at the Lightner Museum in downtown St Augustine. Pro tip - the outside of the museum is way better than the inside.
