Boy oh boy am I considering switching things up. I would REALLY like a smaller camera body! Just not sure if I'm ready to invest more $ into my camera gear. I've been quite content for a good while with the 5D3 and a couple canon primes. Hmmmm, I guess subscribing to this thread is the first step! Keep em coming please! :-D

DO IT! Nice thing is all you need is an a7R II and a smart adapter (Metabones IV if you can afford it) and you can use your existing lenses. I am extremely happy and satisfied with my Canon-mount glass on my a7R II.

Don't listen to David. He's an evil man who has led many of us down the road of Gear Acquisition Syndrome and empty wallets. :p :-D

Seriously though, if you're looking for a smaller kit, you won't go wrong with an A7RII and a couple of lenses like the FE 50/1.8 and the FE 28/2.

that's the move I made cory and no regrets. If you subscribe to the a7x lounge thread most of us post in there as opposed to here but there's also a lot of chat which might not be what your after. I can't tell you how great it is being able to take out the a7rii with the fe28 and fe55 lenses and fit it all in my tiny domke bag. If you want to go really small at times this is the camera with the added bonus you can use your current canon lenses. I dont have a metabones 4 but if I was going to use more canon lenses I would get one. I use a viltrox adaptor currently but it doesn't work with certain lenses (85 1.8, 135L etc) but metabones does

Cory the only real downside to the a7rII is that the predictive tracking algorithms aren't as good as the 5DIII. But the a7rII is a pretty significant upgrade everywhere else. (high and low ISO dynamic range, color fidelity, high iso noise, AF accuracy, etc etc).

I've been using a7 cameras since the a7r first dropped almost two years ago. It wasn't until the a7rII dropped that I felt comfortable selling my 5DIII, which I off-loaded last month.

Which camera did you prefer? 5ds or a7r2?

One more of the first test shoot. I'm torn between the Canon and Sony. I wish Canon had the sensor of this camera.
