Not superfast subjects, but it went pretty well, as I was reasonably close. I reckon it's a bit quicker than the 40 STM pancake, as I tried them both back to back. ANyway, not sure who was having the most fun, the kids or gray haired kids ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

LOL That might have something to do with it. Honestly I think it's more the fact that it isn't as noisy as the old lens and it seems a little more sturdy than the old version. That being said, it still worry about damaging it as it still feels a little fragile. http://flickr.com/photos/24547179@N07/

I like it for exactly the opposite. It's small, light, pretty well made and cheap enough that I'm perfectly happy to throw it in my backpack with my 6D, and drag it all over the place on my mountain bike. Without worrying about damaging it

I've seen some outstanding photos taken with very old cameras and even camera phones that will rival many of the images produced by new gear. I get a kick out of people when I see them recommend cameras with X-Y-C speeds and megapixels ... etc to someone wanting to upgrade to newer body as if they're going to achieve much better results by buying a better camera body. Look at the talent of some people using a rebel xsi/450d with the nifty 50. Talent that would blow you away and keep you inspired for years..... enrigonz wrote in post #17762571 ![]() I'm a strong believer in that... the gear is the tool, but it does not good in the hands of the wrong person. I understand you can have a specific needs like macro or sports photography for example, then a specific lens would get you better macro results and the same for fast action photography. At the end, someone with a cheap Rebel and a cheap prime could get just as good or even better results than someone with a better camera and a very expensive lens. Will immaculens.com
