...the DoF button setup as described above. When you use the camera in One Shot mode, let's say with Center Point only, but then press the DoF button, you get and instant 65point AF that works perfectly in many cases to avoid focus and recompose - it is much faster.

Do you just check those three settings, or all of them, and only adjust those three. Getting to that DOF will be new, I haven't ever used it for anything other than DOF; but actually haven't used it for that much! The is amazing!

I check them all down the left and then customize the setup on the right exactly how I want depending on the camera - my 5DSR is different than the 7D2 - as an example the 7D2 I use this to turn the speed and tracking upto more max levels and for the 5DSR I care about more about focus

If you have a normal sized adult hand, not small lady hand, then the right ring finger is just perfect on the DoF button - I actually rest my finger on it all the time - it has become the way I hold the camera.

Once you have the camera set up this way: (One Shot, AI Servo, AI Servo steroids) or (AI Servo 1 Bird, AI Servo mini explosion, AI Servo give me all you got), you feel so much more in command and you realize why Sony and the A7Rii (I own one) is not there yet in terms of being a great tool - it takes amazing pictures however.

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

On both my 5D3 and 7D2 I use the DoF button to change between AI Servo and one shot focus.
So that when the camera is in one shot, pressing and holding the DoF button switches to AI Focus, and the other way around.

+ 1. Best use for the DOF preview IMO.

The Los Angeles Clippers' new slogan for this upcoming season... First home game (opening night)... Updated EVERYTHING; from the pyrotechnics to the lasers light show to the fog machines to the player introductions... Best I've seen thus far!!! 7D2 + 8-15L Fisheye (8mm on a 1.6x cropped body)... ISO 640, f/5.6 @ 1/30sec...

;)
