The most fantastic thing here is that its so compatible with older equipment.
Not forcing people to buy into a new line of strobes.

Cool, dbeugel! Thanks for posting that FlashCentre chart, since the Elinchrom site remains a bit vague about the new transmitter's compatibility. As a Quadra RX Hybrid/D-Lite RX/ELC Pro HD owner, this is terrific news since they all appear to be compatible with the new trigger's capabilities (with the exception of HiSync with certain models). It's like getting a whole new flash system! Kudos to Elinchrom for their surprisingly extensive backward-compatibility. I'm glad they went with a long-tail solution, rather than a power-constrained, pulsed offering. It's also very exciting that they developed the new Quadra HS head to benefit from this since the old 'S' head has limited HyperSync capability (when used with PocketWizard TT1/TT5s). I'm jazzed!

It's interesting that there is no power display with the Ranger RX, but I get power display on my Gossen Digisky with that pack. Oh well, having HS will benice. Having ETTL wouldbe really bonus.

Yeah, I'm not sure why. I'm a relatively new Elinchrom owner and I couldn't be happier with their products (I switched to all-Elinchrom last May). I was first attracted to the brand for their ultra-light modifiers, but then discovered that Elinchrom's budget-priced D-Lite RX2s are excellent performers for the money. A pair of RX2s would be my top recommendation to anyone just starting out in studio photography.

But in addition to their modifiers, it's their built-in triggers which sold me. The EL-Skyports have been rock-solid in my experience, have never failed with my Nikon bodies, and have proven far more reliable than my PocketWizards. Now, with their new transmitter, I feel like I'll soon have a whole new system.
