These were taken in the most unlikely spot, at the end of a peninsula ending at a lighthouse (Caribou Lighthouse for you locals). He was strolling along the tops of the big rocks forming the breakwater, and you can see the whitecaps out behind him.

Wow Ian, what an amazing opportunity. You sure made the most of it. Great stuff! I like the unusual environment for this species. You sure that's not a Ruddy Turnstone in a costume?

Good stuff, Ian! Especially like the 3rd shot; there's just something about that "Nothing to see here" look

Think Steve's got it-Ruddy in costume! Residual Halloween. :-) Wouldn't you just love to know what he was thinking? "Hunters won't look for me out here!"
Crisp, beautiful shots, sir.

Thanks Al. There were 2 females too but they kept hidden behind some tall grass.

Ha, he sure was out of his familiar territory Steve. As soon as he hopped up on those big rocks it was an obvious opportunity :) . He strutted and looked around for several minutes.

Thanks Jeremey, aided by the unusually clear day.

Thanks Eric, yea I think you got it. It was really windy and you can see that in his ruffled feathers. He seemed to enjoy walking along the tops of the rocks and staring out at the open ocean.

Hi Rog! Yea, there was some tall grass but more just rocks and wind. After he gave me these shots he flew off down the shore.
