I have a 300/2.8 protected by a lenscoat RealTree cover. However, I have bought a custom hood that is half the length as the original hood. I want to make my own neoprene cover for that custom hood, too.

Where is the best place to purchase a neoprene cover with design close to RealTree design? I only need a small amount of material.

Thanks!

Go to your local fabric store, preferably a chain store. They generally carry the real tree prints in various fabrics. If they don't have the neoprene its likely they can order it.

Thanks, Gonzogolf.

I did find this online:

Does this seem like the right fabric? It is adhesive...I'm guessing it is just like the adhesive strips you get for the rotating lens collar when you purchase a Lenscoat?

Thoughts?

That stuff has adhesive covering the entire back side. Do you want it to stick onto the hood or to be removable. If you want it removable I do not think that's the best option.

You might want to use a layer of painters tape beneath that so if the adhesive is too strong you can have a way to remove it with no damage.

As far as it being exactly like what you have, you are the only one that can tell. The one that is being sold is named, "ADVANTAGE MAX-4 HD CAMO", if you know that yours is called that, then you have the right kind, there is quite a few camo types, the one I have in quotes is only one of them. It can get pretty confusing, I know. :)
What you need to do is to Google "HD camo" and see what comes up the click on the Google Image tab in your browser.
Or...

That's about all I can think of for you to try, it's hard to 'see' what you have on your end, you may need to take a shot of your existing camo and post it here so that we can see it ourselves then that may be of more help. If you do end up doing this, please make sure it's a fairly large image so we can make heads or tails of it. :)

This is what I have:

You have what appears to be...
RealtreeĀ® AdvantageĀ® Max-4

Here is a link to a picture that shows it.

http://www.snydercreek.com …realtree-advantage-max-4/ (external link)
Click THIS image to see it by itself. Be SURE to look at the cluster of leaves in the MIDDLE of the image, that is where the leaf that 'tells all' is.

Yours

You have to really look at the picture on the link, and your image to see it though, the reddish leaf in your image can be seen in the link's image too, you just have to 'see it'.

What I did was open your image in a new window, then their image in a new window, then I flipped back and forth.
I am 95% positive that is what it is though.

UPDATE!

I made some snapshots to show you, it's easier that way, they're bad, but you should get the gist of it. :)

Randy

Generally the stuff designed to be applied to bows and guns uses an adhesive designed for easy, no-residue removal.

Also look into turkey tape, a.k.a. cammo tape or cammo wrap. I've used that before on guns and it comes off clean even after being left on for an entire year.
