the points do not light up in servo tracking like they do in the newer cameras. where it will light up each point being used while tracking the subject

Our local High School had the musical Anne playing, so I figured I could go test out low light action. I sat in the back, but I think it performed pretty well.

ISO 2000 looks pretty good to me, Chet.

I over exposed this by 2 stops and was still able to use the image. That's not something to brag about as my editing skills are weaker than my time traveling skills. My suspicion is that the files are much more forgiving than I'm used to. No matter, I'm really enjoying trying to figure this camera out.

I still feel like a little kid every time I see a train. Freight trains are infinitely superior to passenger trains, too. :p

Have a wheelie nice day!

Just got notified by canon that my 1dmk III went into err30 for shutter issue. I spoke with them about the problem and after a few min the rep transfers me to a supervisor. She says that she will research the issue for me and after a few sec comes back on and tells me that they will be replacing the shutter free of charge. Was also kind enough to tell me there were only 3950 shutter acuations.

Completely blown away by Cannon best CS ever

noise what noise ,out with the 1D3 and sigma 150-600mmsport yesterday and just as i got to my location the light went ,the birds where there so i took a chance ,i had to up the iso to 3200 and drop the aperture to f7.1 even after that the best i could achieve was 1/125 and 1/200th sec which is not good at 600mm focal length .lens resting on a bean bag on a car door .but the results speak for themselves with little or minor noise levels .

I went to see the Great Crested Grebe couple that resides in a canal near where I live. One of them was in a stretch of water where the reflections from the buildings make the water often look quite special. Light by the way, was changing constantly. :)

I've been visiting and photographing this couple of Grebes since 2010 and know that this particular part of the canal has amazing reflections from the buildings on the other side. Problem is that the Grebes seem to only visit this part of their territory roughly between noon and 3 p.m. (I've never seen them there early in the morning or late afternoon), which is not exactly the best time for shooting birds. But this day the sun was very pale and often clouds helped too, so I ventured it. :) Thanks very much, Maxdave.

The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train pulled into Wauwatosa Wisconsin today, probably 10-20k people showed up to greet it. They put on a great little show as well to entertain the families on a beautiful evening. I need better glass then the 28-135, but I'm pleased with the camera for sure!

Thanks Levina. I always knew that I out grew the Xti, so I'm happy to have something better for sure. I really would like to get 1 or 2 better lenses to step it up a bit more, possibly a 24-70mm or the 135 f2. I don't make much money shooting pictures as I'm not much of a businessman so it's harder to justify expenses for a hobby. I do take lots of pictures for people, they just don't value the service for what it is. At least when I do a fun outing with my kids it makes my investment worth it,,,, to me.
