I got to use this lens recently for some semi formal senior portraits. I say semi formal as the intended purpose was a group shot taken at a local city park with the "fall leaves" setting. I did this for my wife's school free of charge, and decided to take along the 200mm even though the real shoot was with a 24-70mm for the group.
Hmm, these looked better at full size, the reduced jpegs need more saturation and sharpening IMHO.
Taken in 2011 in very bright daylight. I think I have posted the image on POTN elsewhere some time ago, but not in this thread.

Well, you appear to have nailed the narrow DOF focus on that one!
Yes, it's perfectly on the eye(s). Well, the active AF field was not on the eye, but the eyes are the sharpest part of the image. The nose is already out of focus. You can't see it in 1280x853, but in full resolution. If the dog fills the frame on a FF body (5D3/1DX), the effect is even more extreme, because the subject distance is smaller.
I'm a chimper. There I said it...

I will miss posting in this thread. Just dumped all my Canon gear. Got a great price for the 200 2L.
