No diving today and thus no underwater pictures, but did hang out taking pics of my wifes newest addition to the family...whose name is "Poseidon" so I guess that makes it alright to post.

Wife: "I bought a new thoroughbred today..."
Me:...ugh
Wife: "Want to know its name...?"
Me: "Sure...(distracted and uninterested tone)
Wife: "Poseidon"
Me: "The god of the sea and all sea creatures? are you serious? (now suddenly interested)...cool, that's an awesome name!"
lol...no joke that is how it went

shot this with my Sigma 105 lens, I love that lens.

Still mucking about with the old Russian manual focus lens. I like the bokeh, when I get it, but focus is a trial with my eyesight! The fact that it's drizzling and slightly breezy doesn't help. Need to set something up inside I suppose.
Both wide open f/2.

Nice shot, have drooled over that lens, but no more GAS for me :-)

Loved the story too - how to get your attention!

I've been wondering about focus mode (my terminology might not be correct) that you've used. Is the one where you have the squares appearing in the view finder?

Beautiful. Perfect exposure time on the water, nice amount of silkiness, but still has some definition.

Couple of long exposures and random shots with the 70D today. I'll be going back to the railroad track overpass at sunset, because it faces due west. I know the chain link isn't in sharp focus, but I posted it anyway because I really liked the composition. Winds in the midwestern US were crazy today, so I took the track shots quick and got back to the car, only to discover my focusing errors!!!

Promised I'd get back to the train tracks near sunset in the above post, and I did. Shame on me, these aren't with the 70D, but I wanted to share them with friends on this thread.

Nice shots - good colours and I had to say anything its maybe crop the right side a little and the bottom (if you want to keep the aspect ratio - so there is a little more room, compositionally - in the direction the boy is looking. Whether is people or animals/birds, dry to leave room in the direction the subject is either moving or looking.

Nice shot ~

Hi Rose you can use the rule of thirds lines, but my setup with flowers is to use liveview
with max zoom on a tripod. Than i look for the best possible composition, just by walking around
at high/mid and low angles. When i found the sweet spot(s) i focus manual at max zoom
on the part(s) that lead/attracts my eyes. Mostly i take several shots with different apertures. Force my iso to 100.
With AF it's difficult because it's hard to focus on the part you want to be clear/sharp in the composition.
With 20 + MP you can crop afterwards to your liking. I always take my macro tubes with me you never
now if some insect(s) ect will give a extra dimension to the photo(s).
When i use AF in some occasions (by hand) than i use spot meting with the rules of thirds in the viewfinder,
i shoot on AI servo high speed shooting (for higher keepers rate) with enough shutter speed i turn of
the IS or OS else-why it stays on.

Hope it gives you more insight.
