When the stadium is completely dark I might try that. I'm open to suggestions and I'm definitely not an expert. One problem is taking quick shots of the sidelines and in the stands. The lighting there is definitely darker. If I want to get a quick shot of something happening in the stands, I may not have to time to play around with the ISO to get the exposure.
Now for the coliseum where McNeese plays basketball. They just changed to some great LED lighting before last season and the lighting is pretty consistent all over. I can go full manual there because I know the settings I can use and I also know the correct white balance.

One thing i do is turn safety shift on. Set up in normal AV mode, F2.8, ISO XXX(whatever is needed), then set my minimum SS to 1/1000. Safetys hift will up the ISO on the fly to make sure i never shoot below 1/1000. Works wonders.
Like yesterday i was set up at F2.8, ISO 1250 and getting a constant 1/2000, 1/1600 SS. But as it got darker the safety shift would kick up my ISO to make sure i never fell below 1/1000
