Took a class on shooting then going to a local printer to talk about printing. Really good day learned a lot. Alex McClure an Olympus trailblazer put it on and he is a good guy.

Some pics from the zoo. Oh and I hate you guys for pointing out the aps-c not programable flaw was flipping that menu button all day.

These are incredible. Wonderful photography and fantastic - really wonderful - expressiveness in Callum's face. Lens looks like a winner to me.
On a depressing note, in that second shot he looks so smart he's making me feel dumb. ;)

Haha thanks david. The second shot was taken in a restaurant. It sort of looks like he is on a talk show or something :)

The Samyang 135 is good IF you have a lot of time to compose/focus your shots.

It's great as a hobby lens and can definitely pull of some excellent shots on paid assignments if you have the settings all set beforehand.

There are Pros and Cons of the Manual Focus.

For example, for the ballerina photos I shot, the dancer stayed in one area and performed multiple steps and poses, without moving too much backwards or forwards. That made it SOOO much easier for me to just focus on shooting, because the depth of field didn't really change. The camera didn't have to re-focus every time I shot (or I could've just used back-button focusing).

I used the Samyang for a few weddings and wildlife shots, but most of the time, the subjects moved too fast for me to get an accurate shot. If the shots were posed, then the results will be stunning:

I use the Samyang 135 for:
*portraits
*posed shots or slow-moving subjects

Not for (although YMMV):
*weddings
*sports
*animals

If you can live with the occasional mis-focused shot, then get the Samyang. It's a bargain.

However, as much as I love this lens, I'm still waiting for Sony to release a FE 135mm lens.

Great shots! Love taking shots at the zoo, biggest issue always seems to be reach or getting a clear **** without any barriers, but you nailed these.
