I know this is for volleyball but I even tried it for basketball and it worked great!

Yes, it was my main lens for basketball ... until I went full frame.

135L on FF is the same field of view as 85 on APS-C.

Now I'm splitting time between 85 f/1.8 and 135L.

One from high school. Lighting is always a challenge so I use the 85mm f1.8 most of the time.

I use to shoot with that lens, I broke it a while back. I am planning on buying another one. That is an awesome lens!

Reviving this thread...
Just used the 85 1.8 for the first time at my sons vball tournament - horribly lit gym - fairly happy with results - as some have said, the 85 focuses quite quickly!

I have a photographic memory, just wish I'd remember to take the lens cap off more often!

I'm going to be another rule breaker...
Can't find any of my volleyball photos with it right now, so here's basketball instead.
I've used that lens for basketball, volleyball and portraits. For the indoor sports, it's so great having that extra stop+ compared to the 70-200 2.8.
