This female bald eagle was clearly bored. There was a dead coyote out in the water near the shore, that the crows were flocking to. I waited, hoping this gal (she was perched beside her mate for a while....he was quite a bit smaller) would get up off her butt and go partake. But noooooo, for two hours she sat there and gave me very look in the book. I finally gave up and left her still sitting there. (Rog, note the nice pine tree setting!!)

Yes, part of the time she was on one leg. When they perch they often tuck one leg up, as do Hawks.

I guess if you are standing there for so long, I would want to alternate legs too! Flamingos do it too. Wonder if it is just a bird thing?

Very nice, Ian. I admire your patience; I've almost frozen to death a few times waiting for a bird to move or materialize.

Oh I wouldn't have lasted outdoors Al. I was in my mobile blind, heater and radio both on. ߘ Thanks for the kind comment.

Hey, Ian, took me a bit to notice the eagles!:-D Yes, IMO, you can't go wrong with this combination. And you never disappoint. If I ever get a BE/Pine shot, my avatar will change in a heartbeat!
Wish my mobile blind would fit on the boardwalk here.:-)

Nice shots, I'd have to say I like #4 the best-something about seeing them stretching that I like. Looks like a pretty young-ish adult too, with that much brown in her tail-unless it's rust stains like you see on light-colored waterfowl. Too bad you couldn't get her feeding.

Checked on "my" eagles this morning, too. Thought I was going to get a courtship shot(my dream photo) but they were just flying to a different tree.
