You happy guys. I had absolutely no lustings after the Rx1rii but i dreamt about it tonight and was thinking about it today. Damn, having an A7Rii and this little thing would pretty much cover everything. Aswell as that even the pocket everyday camera has the exact same sensor would make things pretty easy... Damn GAS

But first need to sell the damn A7R to fund the A7Rii. Nobodys interested here in my area... Then probably selling the A7S and getting the Rx1rii in a year when prices go down. Prices for the first version went down like crazy hope it happens too with the new one

When I first bought the A7R, it seemed relatively light and small enough to carry around all the time but I wanted something smaller and more compact. I bought the A6000 which is a great "pocketable" camera but I have found its sensor and crop factor limiting especially with the kit lens (that's what makes it small). I love the A7RII but am finding it has become less portable. I think it is a combination of weight and recently the larger sized lenses - either that or I am getting old. In any event, I am looking forward to a small/light camera with excellent image quality which I will find easy to carry around with me all the time. I am looking forward to see what the RX1RII can do...

It is almost Christmas guys! Hehe.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Love my a7rII but with two kids I gave it another go this past weekend. Taking the kids to Hershey park it was annoying to have take off my bag every time I wanted to go on a ride with them and have to secure and remove my camera. I won't mind looking like a Japanese tourist with a P&S around my neck, I'm Asian anyway so I'm sure I get the look anyway.

I'm probably going to snag a used RX1/R once the used prices come down a bit more. Have been thinking about it a bit more, and given that I already own the a7rII, the rx1rII is overkill for what would be a casual-use camera, and the RX1/R can be had used for 1/3 the price of the rx1rII brand new. The only thing I'd miss is the built in EVF, but it looks like the EVF in the MKII is the same in the rx100....and that thing is tiny!

the A7rii is definitely not small, however I think it's small enough when I want it to be small. If I'm going to dinner, and want a really small setup, the A7rii + CV 40 is a fairly compact setup, and while still kinda big, it's small enough not to be a burden. I toss it in a small belt bag and clip it to my belt. No straps, tripod mounts, ect.

A two lens setup is better matched with the Lowepro utility bag 100. Works best with two smallish lenses, no bigger than a 100mm f2.

I have a collection of bags for 1 lens setup, 2 lens setup, and 3 lens setup. My favorite is the 3 lens setup, however the belt attachment is huge and difficult to get on. That would be my largest pet peeve of that setup.... but who am I kidding, satisfying gear lust is wonderful :p

Charlie, is the bag on the left big enough for the A7RII with CV40? I have a very small Domke shoulder bag that can take the camera with a lens fitted and a spare lens but ideally want another bag that can only take the camera and a small lens

it's a bit snug, however, the A7rii + cv40 is sitting in that bag. It's the lowepro ILC 50. If it were a half cm bigger, it would be perfect. It's a little snug as is, currently looking for a bag just a tad bigger, think tank skin like bag would be perfect, as the lowepro padding tends to be a bit stiff. I may either look for another similar bag or do some surgery to remove the padding. Size wise, the bag is really nice.

For me I'm going to decide which of the two to keep, I don't see myself keeping both. I had the RX1 and liked it but had a few issues with it, of which they were fixed with the Mark II.

In regards to the EVF, the figure that I'm most interested in is magnification and being .74x it's bigger than the a7 series and slightly smaller than the .78 of the a7rII.

Invest in lenses not camera bodies - I'm trying to save you from yourself - I too own both a 5DSR and A7Rii so at least I think I am able to comment.

I can completely understand where you are coming from about lust for this RX1RII but you already own this sensor in another camera and it will, in 18months, become dated - so don't do it.

If the 5DSR is not for you - sell it now - but make the decisions independently.

I continue to own my 5DSR because for me, the wedding camera reliability, ergonomics, OCF, IA Servo, +++ makes it a keeper for 'me'.

From what I have seen about your posts - it is landscapes - therefore sell the 5DSR tomorrow - yes tomorrow.

But do not buy this new slim downed A7Rii - you already own one.

If you are lusting after the greatest 35mm lens in the world then buy it - but I don't know what that lens is - there are lots of good ones.

Given the lenses I can see that you own, I would look at the Otis 28 for perfection or the Sony 28F2, which I own as my only native Sony lens, for lightness, F2 and video. Without correction there is major distortion in the Sony 28F2 - but it makes the camera so small and light it is great.

I see you also own the Canon 40 F2.8 - another of my favourite cheap lenses and it makes a perfect light setup on the A7Rii - it is great.

There's still great images coming from the RX1 and it's going on 3 years now.

I would say that matching the same sensor to a great 35 f/2 lens that's been optimized for the sensor is underrated. Even having the same sensor isn't a bad thing, you're used to what the sensor can and can't do. If you have a $3,000 5DSR or a $6,000 1DX it doesn't matter if you don't take it out to shoot.

I took my a7rII out these past 4 days on a mini family vacation. And I took more pictures and keepers than I would have if I still had my D810, which I wouldn't have taken out as much, yet I still feel like I missed out on some by not having a smaller camera. I feel like if I had it carried around with my neck and more ready to shoot I might've had 30% more shots.
