Printers have to be calibrated too...does Costco even do that sort of thing? I would be surprised if they did.

......

Yes they do. And they used to provide profiles online, but I've not seen them available for a while. My nearest Costco is an hour away, but we use it since it right down the road (relatively) from where my girls have their piano lessons. The other day I went in and they were servicing their printers. I had to wait for them to get the printers fixed, replace the toner cartridges, calibrate the machines, and then get caught up on prints. Needless to say my prints looked just fine, and I spent way too much money at Costco that night.

When I prepare files for final printing, I always add +10 on vibrant or saturation because many printers or online lab or costco will desat the color a bit. i also sharpen the image more.

Turn off the auto-correct. ;)

I always turn off auto correct. i still wanna add saturation a bit for my taste. We photographers don't like saturated colors but most clients want's more vibrant colors in my experience. not too much of course.

you can even download the costco's printer profiles from their website but i found out that sRGB is just as good so i'm not using their profile now.

+1, I turn it off as well, still have to bump brightness a bit, and saturation.

I tend to get slightly better from Target, but I'm OK with Costco for better service. They have screwed up many of my prints, and don't hesitate to reprint.

It's definitely a color profile issue. I can "reproduce the problem" by flip flopping profiles on the print in PS. What I can't figure out is how to take the original and make the colors stick when I export.

I might want to just start over in LR and follow the instructions above in the correct order (ie, edit, go into PS, leave it as ProPhoto, then only when saving as JPG, convert to sRGB).

From what I can tell now, every time I try to use sRGB, I get the dull colors. But I've lost track of my original (edited the TIF too many times). So gonna start over to make sure I get it right.

Here's a page from Cambridge in Color that goes over soft proofing and using the gamut warning.

This is the result of my first sous vide test cooking corned beef. One of the things I liked best is the juices still in the bag that I poured onto the finished, sliced strips. It may not look very moist but it is and very tender too.

This is a round cut whereas I normally get a flat cut of corned beef and there was very little fat. The juices would be used to cook potatoes and cabbage in for a great St. Patty's Day dinner.

Tomorrow, I'll update the webpage with more images too.

I've eaten from that machine before, and the meat turned out amazing, however the process of it cooking.... not very appealing :-P

I suck at portraits...managed to get 2 people in focus. Oh well, they got what they paid for, hehe. My half-sister and her family:

I think you're being a bit too critical on yourself, they all look in adequate focus to me, it's a nice shot ;)
