Not sure about rebate for Canada. It should work. The rebate is about $200, for buying the printer alone.

No. It doesn't work. Not really. The rules are pretty strict for the rebates. They have to be processed from a US authorized dealer and to a residence in the US. Add to this the complications of importing the printer (this is a big printer so shipping costs alone are high and the possibility of being assessed for taxes) and it gets messy. Finally, the Amex reward card is issued in USD only. Maybe not an issue for those who buy regularly in the US but more often than not when I do it is funded by an existing PayPal balance. It is possible but it amounts to an overly complicated affair that necessitates an accomplice in the US.

Question for those of you who have this printer. Do prints look better on glossy or matte? I have the printer on the way but want to order some paper for it.

Glossy and lustre (RC type) surfaces are very nice but many of the matte and fine art papers work well. Hahnemuhle makes some papers that really work nicely with it. Get a sample pack from Hahnemuhle and Canson and try out their papers. My everyday papers are Red River UltraPro Satin and Canon Lustre and I use a variety of Ilford, Hahnemuhle and Canson for special purposes.

On note. The Chromalife 100 inks achieve their best archival properties on RC type photo papers.

It will look great on BOTH. Luster is my favorite though.

I print a lot on Hahnemuhle. Absolutely amazing paper. Images printed on it seem to have so much depth.

I am sorry. I didn't read the fine prints as it didn't apply to me. Thank you for clarification.

I just bought mine for $75 new in box with the paper. Listed on Craigslist in Milwaukee for $95 OBO for a few days. I was heading that way so I offered $75. Set it up today and printed out some 8.5x11 and a 13x19 print.. Very nice printer.

Are the inks that come with the printer the same as the refill in terms of the amount of ink? I know it's typical of printers to have ink cartridges that do no contain the same amount of ink as a replacement cartridge. Not sure if this applies to this printer.

The ink that comes with the printer is the same ink that you will get if you purchased the refill ink cartridges. the black colors go much faster than the regular colors, and Canon sells a 4 pack of the 3 inks that go quickest. (2 of one color and 1 each of the other colors IIRC)

Adorama has raised the bundle price from $1,129 to $1,199 AR. That stopped me from thinking of buying the bundle. Good way to cure GAS.

The value of that printer is nothing the printers free anywhere if you have a brand-new in a box with printer head and Inc. you could get about $100. I've done about four of the printer deals in the past 3 to 4 months and in the back of my truck right now I have three printers that I'm going to trash I kept the ink and I kept the printheads so I can have spares and the ink I will sell on eBay and get about $65 in my pocket a set after fees and shipping so it's a win-win situation free printhead money in my pocket for the ink and trash the printer and usually sell the cameras for the same price I paid for it so I'm not out any money in fact I gain free printhead and $65

There's another camera coupon rebate going on for the December month so I'm going to purchase another camera set up with another printer so I can have another spare printed and again sell the ink and trash the printer and sell the camera system for what I paid for it all I'm out is $350 for the rebate in a few weeks to get it back

Instead of trashing them please consider giving them away on CL for spare parts. Trashing is such a waste.

+1 Salvation Army or Goodwill will take them as donations and make use of them too. You'll even be able to claim it as a tax write-off.

spare parts? with the rebates I just buy more camera deals... your allowed 1 per rebate promotion ID. I sell the stuff off and take what I want and trash the rest.

If you want em then come get em... been in the back of my truck for 2 days now because I haven't taken them to the dumpster yet.
