It occurred in ESE, extending to SE. I was always going to believe we are going to see something similar to what happened in Russia not too long back! And no for those who are local, this is not in the direction of recent missile test that is completely in opposite direction. Weak retaliates,

Nov 18, 2015 04:09 | #5 Nice one Tyler! That second one would have been awesome to witness! It amazes me when you see a shooting star and go 'wow, hope I got that' then you look at the screen and it's a tiny dash. Need a lot of light and fire to make them big 6D x 2 | TM SP 35mm ƒ1.4 | 50mm ƒ1.8 | 85mm ƒ1.8 | 24-105mm ƒ4L USM | 135mm ƒ2L | 200mm ƒ2.8L II | 17-40mm ƒ4L | Sy 24mm ƒ1.4 | Sy XP 14mm ƒ2.4 Flickr

Thank you! The fireball in the second one was so long and slow moving, I'll I could do was stutter out "wow" to myself. Definitely a huge rush after confirming that you captured one! Canon 6D, Canon 70-200l f4, Canon 50mm 1.8, Samyang 14mm, Super Takumar 28mm

Thank you! I was definitely out to capture some meteors. Ill live very close to Lake Michigan and the skies over the lake can be quite dark. My thoughts were that it was a Taurid being that it was so slow moving and bright but it could definitely be a Leonid as well. I'm still learning so no doubt I could be wrong! I am really surprise by the lovely spectrum of fireball color in the reflection off the water that seems is significantly enhanced by the lake's reflective surface and though not sure about the exact scientific explanation behind it, I believe its that between Reflection, Refraction, and Diffraction one did the magic here and that is immaterial as far as image is so beautiful. Tyler: Very nice. What was your motivation when shooting? Just the night landscape or smartly knowing about the possible pre-Leonid you were lucky to actually capture some as your direction is almost correct to capture Leonid activity that was on Nov 17, just few nights back. Last post: Oh my, ooooo my. Nice images but again that Typical Rookie classic mistake of spinning satellite (Possibly the easiest satellite to differentiate), for the Fireball or meteor and then not even once!!! Well hopefully you wont make the same mistake again. Hmmm, ok, so you are schooling me here ? Mike R, P.E. ...iMac 27"(i7), iPad2, iPhone14Pro, AppleTV4K, MacBook

Clearly the first 2 images I posted are meteor fireballs, as they have color in their streak not white like satellite .... got it now? I also clearly stated the last one IS a "Iridium Sat flare Apr 22, 2012", to show the difference. btw, what's your expert take on this video clip? Probably a tumbling satellite.
