I am done with my Christmas shopping as well; I didn't buy too much for my grandkids although they will be happy enough. Aaron is getting my iPad 4 with a new case; Nick wanted a red Ninja Warrior costume & a Batman action figure. Tristan is getting a couple of movies (his parents are sick of Cars & Planes) & a Lightening McQueen race car with light up wheels. Miss Ella is getting a laughing baby doll & stroller. I got each of my kids & their spouses an Amazon gift card. I love shopping at the computer in my pj's while sipping rum & eggnog....;-)a

UPS has been loading my porch with other toys & warm jackets that will go to the needy kids in our community. The last of them will be here by Wednesday so I will load them up & deliver them next weekend.

We will have our annual celebration here on Christmas Eve so my kids can have Christmas morning at home with their families. Skip & I will sleep in, eat leftovers for brunch & then go off to the movies. Later in the day we will go to my sister's for the evening.

What are all your holiday plans this year?

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

My shopping is not close to being done and I just found out that I'm hosting Christmas. Things are about to get busy. :-D

Anyways..... here's couple pictures for this thread.

If everything goes well, we brand calves the weekend after Thanksgiving and this year worked out well.

Melody, those all sound like reasons why you should spoil yourself, you deserve it.:-)

Stina, great shots! We don't have anything like that around here.

Maureen, we won't have much for Christmas this year. But, will get everyone a little something. I had my son go on Amazon while I was sick and order something for his Dad. My son wants something on Amazon as well. The last few years most of our Christmas shopping was done online! You and Craig would get along well, he likes Rum & Eggnog, as well as Kahlua and Baileys Irish Creme.

As for what we're doing Christmas, well, it definitely won't be the family get-togethers we used to have. My MIL has made holidays extremely difficult. It looks like I won't be able to see my granddaughter for Christmas like I'd hoped. They are staying in Oregon, mostly likely still mad at us for leaving Grandma alone on Thanksgiving. So, I told my husband last night, we can spend Christmas Eve together, then, he and my son can see Grandma on Christmas Day. He said that wasn't happening, he doesn't want to leave me alone on Christmas. I told him I'll be fine, some sacrifices have to be made to keep the family happy. This year has been the hardest I think. I'll be happy when it's over. LOL

I do want to wish everyone here the Merriest of Holidays and a Happy New Year!

Plans? Taking care of this lot, and possibly the human members of the family too!

In "my opinion" this was my husbands Christmas present as well as the new stall and pen. :-)

Thankfully, he really likes her and she's really good for only being two years old.

Well ladies, I simply must share what transpired today.

This morning I had an elderly gentleman come into the shop for some work. Somehow we got onto the topic of women working in the trades. He was telling me about how much it bothers him when men talk down to/about women and treat them like lower class people. He dug a piece of paper out of his wallet and handed it to me to read the poem written on it. He had written it to his wife, who had passed away 13 years earlier, in their 40th year of marriage. It was all about how a woman was a light from God, and when she was gone, there was nothing but darkness until they were to meet again. He was quite the guy and certainly made me feel good.

When I went to lunch, I went to my favourite place, Lee's Snack House. I always sit at the front counter and buy the daily lunch special with a Coke. Today a guy sat down next to me. He is also a regular, but I didn't know him. The whole atmosphere of the place is fun and joking. The two of us were talking with the waitresses, joking around, just having a fun time. Something was mentioned to the guy on the other side of me about paying for the bill. Rick, the guy next to me, said that I was paying for his lunch. I protested, stating that it was customary for the guy to pay on the first date. But he didn't believe that, so I said that he was paying for the second date and we were going somewhere expensive! We spent a good half hour just eating, chatting, and joking around with the other folks near us. He finished first and left. When I went to pay, the waitress told me that Rick had paid for my lunch! Well that sure made a girl feel special! I am not the kind of girl who ever gets attention from guys, and certainly not a favour like that.

As a single girl working in a male-dominated trade, it sure was a nice change to be treated so well.

Melody, it's your move now. He'll be waiting for you to at least thank him. Etiquette requires it! Clever fellow, he is.

I have no idea if I'll even run into him again. As for something starting.... who knows. He wasn't wearing a wedding ring, but in the trades that doesn't mean anything since most jobs require them to be removed. He definitely was older than what I'd be looking for too, probably in his forties.

Whatever happens, it was enjoyable and totally made my day.
