Is there any news on when uncompressed raw is coming to the other cameras? A7S specifcally in my case?

In other news I bought a 40mm pancake STM, as it can autofocus with my camera (only autofocus lense I've got!) and it's a pretty tiny setup!
The adaptor is bigger than the lense haha.
Going to resist the urge to bring the rest of my stuff next time I go for a bush walk, keep it minimal.

i do the same,i try to bring only one lens when going on short bush walk with the dog. it forces u to be a bit more creative and to frame the shot differently or get closer or farther away from the subject

I've been enjoying everyone's photos and posts. I haven't shot much at all. I get into these slumps at times. Anyone else go through that?

Regarding monitor calibration, I use the Spyder 3. I think I will upgrade to the Xrite i1Display Pro. Been reading about it and it appears to be more accurate than Spyder. Amazon has a good deal right now.

.

I'm in one of those slumps just now, questioning myself about my gear choices, thinking that I should give up etc. Not sure why I'm thinking like that just now but every so often it happens. Struggling at the moment to get anything other than snapshot type photos and then thinking things like what's the point of having an a7rii and shooting snapshots. Hopefully it passes soon :)

I cant say theres a huge difference between spyder and xrite. I have the old spyder 2, which I liked very much since I didnt need online activation, however upgraded to xrite a year or two ago since I use a dual monitor system. Got the xrite for a killer deal for one of the sales, about half price of new.

I'm not sure that it ever will, could be a limitation of the processor (Bionz bs Bionz X).

Don't overthink - no use forcing yourself to take pictures or pleasure will soon turn into pain. Spend time with family, retreat and perform some maintenance: clean lenses, expel sensor dust, dismantle tripod - directions here (external link) and here (external link) - or lose yourself in GAS (fantasize only, unless you have money to burn).

Soon enough, inspiration will strike or you'll feel the motivation to go out shooting. Another option is to take a camera with max. two lenses in a small bag every time you leave the house, even for a quick trip to the neighborhood market, but don't feel obliged to take a picture-it's ok if the camera never comes out of the bag; conversely, just take random shots without thinking too much about anything. Upload those shots when you get home and you just might realize there was something in it after all that you have responded at a subconscious level.

I haven't been shooting purely for pleasure all that much either except for paid gigs. I'm not too concerned about my slump. Sooner or later, there will be something. Best to enjoy the slump and use the time to recharge yourself.

I think we all go through periods like that. Certainly I do. I finally stopped worrying whether my images were sellable or 'print worthy'. I just take photos of things I enjoy photographing. If someone else like them, so much the better. I have a Sony a7rII so I can take GREAT snapshots! :-)

When I feel kinda not so into taking photos or get bored with my routine I pick up a cam or lens I haven't used in awhile and take that out. I've been using my em5 excusivly for months so I took the 70d out with a manual focus Pentax lens and had a blast. That got me out of my funk and also gave me a new found respect for the em5 hehe

The thing with cleaning and maintaining lenses and stuff is a great idea. Without noticing it i do it from time to time when i need to hold that sexy piece of glasses and camera or playing with new ideas to organize my things. Keeps you with your gear without actually shooting. With tripods, lenses, cameras, flashes and other small gadgets theres always something to do.

And youre right, sooner or later most of us will find back to it again. If its a little headshot for a friend or a little trip with the family etc...

Keep shooting! You'll come out of it.

Alternatively, you could take a trip which should get the juices flowing...

Really appreciate the feedback guys. Glad I'm not the only one. I've been spending the time with family and just taking it easy. Been watching a few videos to increase my editing skills. I also recently consolidated my various LR catalogs into one master. It contained nearly 24,000 photos since 2010 when I first started shooting. Lots of snapshots early on. I'm going through and culling the catalog. It's been kind of fun going through and reminiscing.

That's the one I have Alfredo. Good choice, I like mine. :)
